MY FAVOURITE CLASSICS
My first ever love affair was with a late 50’s Cadillac.
I was three at the time. We were living in the USA and I yelled “Cadillac, Dad!” every time a magnificent late 50's Caddy cruised by. True love!
My next affair was when I was nine.
I spotted three early 50’s Cadillacs abandoned on a block of land in Carlingford, NSW. Oh my gosh. They looked to me like stunning glorious Greek temples. I was overwhelmed. I still am.
Just a few years later I fell for a gorgeous 1915 Douglas motorcycle.
We were at the Australian War Museum. I fell in love with the very elegant lines of that Douglas. I realised that someone, somewhere, carefully designed it. But who?
Then when I was 15, I discovered guitars.
I started playing music with some pals, and eventually bought a Fender Jazz Bass. One of the most beautiful guitars ever designed. Curvaceous, seductive, irresistable.
And all that time, the same thought persisted.
“Who was it who sat at a drawing board, somewhere, and penned the lines of all these works of art?” I wanted to know who it was. To recognise them, and to celebrate them.
We moved to country NSW and I started drawing my favourite design classics. I ended up with a gallery full of them.
The Galaxie Design Classics is the result. It's a growing selection of my personal favourites. I try to capture the beauty and purity of the form and line. So I keep the drawings very simple and clean.
I don’t use any auto-trace or AI.
Every line is done by hand, using digital tools. I work from multiple pics that I take myself, or source online. It’s always exciting, every time I start a new design.
And each poster is printed and framed individually, here in Australia
To museum grade quality — to the highest, most beautiful, and most durable standard available. So if you’re buying a Galaxie print, you are purchasing absolutely the finest quality print available.
Thanks for visiting my gallery.
I hope you find something here you enjoy. And maybe something beautiful, that you can celebrate too.
