FAQ

How are the Galaxie posters created?

All the posters are original artworks created in my studio in northern NSW. I love creating them and it's always exciting to start a new poster. I use a clean, minimal style that is intended to let the shape and style of each project speak for itself. No auto-trace or specialist illustration software is used.

How are the posters printed?

We print using the ‘Giclee’ process. Used in galleries and museums around the world such as the British Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of New York, and the Australian National Gallery. It's a superb digital 8 colour system, famous for it's brilliant, rich colour and crisp detail. So it's designed to last and retain its colour, and it's basically the best there is.

Are the prints standard sizes?

Yes. Our prints are available in sizes A4, A3, A2, A1 and A1+, which are industry standard sizes. Standard frames should be generally readily available for prints these sizes. Size details are as follows:

A4 Small
Paper size 21x30cm
A3 Medium
Paper size 30x42cm
A2 Regular
Paper size 42x60cm
A1 Large
Paper size 60x84cm
A1+ Gallery
Paper size 75x100cm

Can I get them framed and ready to hang?

Sure can. You can order your prints fully framed and ready to hang in three stylish finishes - White, Oak, or Black.

They are delivered ready-to-hang, with premium D-Rings and braided stainless steel wire. Our frames are produced in Australia by expert framers with over 35 years experience. All our frames use FSC certified, sustainably sourced timber with shatter proof 2mm thick acrylic to protect your print.

How are they delivered?

We take a lot of care to make sure your print arrives safely. All framed prints are initially protected with cardboard corner guards, then wrapped in protective bubble wrap. Then they are taped into custom made, double-thickness, impact resistant corrugated cardboard boxes to provide safe and secure travel. Unframed prints are wrapped in protective sheeting to protect the surface of the poster, and placed in taped cardboard tubes for shipping. All packaging materials are 100% recyclable. Shipping labels are attached, the order is shipped, and you will be notified of the tracking information.

What's the story behind the Galaxie Design Classics?

The Galaxie - posters celebrating my personal favourite classic designs.

I was around eight years old when I came across an empty block of land with a small collection of run down early 50's Cadillacs just sitting in the sun. Never seen them before, and I just stopped in my tracks. I was overwhelmed by the whole design.

The fronts of those cars, with their towering rococo chrome grilles seemed nothing short of Greek temples. It was something of a moment for me. Why couldn't all cars look like that? Who was the unknown hero who sat at a drawing board and designed these dazzling wonders? And why aren't all cars thrilling, wonderful, magnificent things?

I created the Galaxie to celebrate those great classics, that are so beautiful, done with incredible skill, and give so much pleasure.

And for all the eight-year-olds-at-heart, who find the lines, the style, the chrome, the badges, the lettering, the dashboards, the steering wheels, the hubcaps of great cars, simply thrilling.
